Diwali is the Festival of Light – a time for new beginnings and a time to invite health, wealth and prosperity into your life!
Join Art at the Heart CIC and The Core Solihull to celebrate our annual Community Diwali event. From rangoli patterns to Bhangra dancing to shadow-puppet making and giant communal artworks–there’s something for everyone. You can also enter an art competition for a chance to win prizes worth up to £450.
Book a morning ticket and/or an afternoon ticket - each ticket will allow entry to all activities during the morning (except miniature painting). Each PM ticket will allow entry to all activities in the afternoon.
Diwali Dome - Decorate the Dome and enact the Diwali story through projection and shadow-puppets.
Small Lantern Making - Make your own lantern to bring to the Diwali lantern parade on 9 November in this fun hour-long workshop.
Rangoli - Invite happiness, positivity and prosperity into your life by making giant communal rangoli.
Giant Lantern Making - Decorate giant community lanterns for the parade with tassels and up-cycled fabrics. Then bring your lanterns to the Sari Sari Night Lantern Parade on 9 November!
Drawing Competition Workshop - Use this drawing workshop to sharpen up your drawing skills and get some practice in for the drawing competition.
Shadow Puppet Workshop - Create your own shadow puppet and then test it out in the Diwali Dome, by participating in the story-telling.
Diwali Maxiatures - We’re going big with telling the Diwali story and need your help to create the characters for the scenes!
Add On Special Session: Indian Miniature Painting (morning only) - Create your own mini-masterpiece depicting a scene from the Diwali story. Be inspired by Indian Mughal art (1526 – 1858) and develop your technical ability, precision and creative use of colour.
Art at the Heart CIC would like to thank Solihull MBC and Touchwood for contributing to the celebrations and to Tektura Wallcoverings and Gohil Emporium for supplying materials.
